Bow Tie Knitting Pattern

Materials: Size 9 Needles, 1 Skein yarn of choice, measuring tape

Special stitches: kfb (knit one, front and back—increase one), k2tog (knit two together—decrease one) 

Needle size and yarn type are up to the knitter, and the pattern will be worked in Garter Stitch.

Bow—Side 1:

Cast on three

Row 1: knit across
Row 2: kfb, knit one, kfb (5 stitches)
Row 3: kfb, knit until last stitch, kfb (7 stitches)
Rows 4-5: knit across
Rows 6-11: repeat rows 3-5 (11 stitches)
Row 12: kfb, knit eleven, kfb (13 stitches)
Rows 13-22: knit across
Row 23: k2tog, knit unti two stiches remain, k2tog (11 stiches)
Rows 24-25: knit across
Rows 26-31: repeat rows 23-25 (7 stitches)
Row 32: k2tog, knit three, k2tog (5 stitches)
Row 33: k2tog, knit one, k2tog (3 stitches)
Rows 34-45: repeat rows 1-12
Rows 46-50: knit across

Cast on three

Row 1: knit across

Repeat row 1 to create neckband. The neckband should equal the circumference of the wearer’s neck plus 4 inches. Measurements vary based on yarn and tying preferences.

When neckband is the appropriate length, begin the next section.

Bind off

Sew two pieces together to form tie
