Description of my eye tattoo. The “Why?”

The summer after 9th grade I started drawing eyes in a summer art class after talking to some people about drawing for practice the things that you feel you can’t do well, so I tried a few things and realized I couldn’t draw them accurately so I started drawing them everywhere altering them a little bit here and there then it became more habit than practice. When I wasn’t thinking I was drawing eyes. Sophomore year of college I was sitting in my office at work and decided the best way to make it work would be to look at eyes so I pulled up a picture I took of mine and used it for reference. I’d been thinking about tattoos and hadn’t figured out what I wanted, but then this clicked: eyes are the portal to the soul, and a tattoo over the heart could represent that portal, especially if it was an eye, my eye. I put it there for that reason and for the fact that a tattoo is on my skin, hidden behind clothes. Therefore I have the ability, the right to hide it or reveal it, just like I do with the inner workings of my soul and my mind. If you’re close to me, you’ll see my soul. If you get close enough you might even feel it.

Why dragons?

Dragons are strong and fierce creatures, armor-plated and fire-breathing. If they need to fight or protect the ones they love they’re well equipped, but they also have a tender side. They’re caring creatures who are wiser than most other beings and have magical abilities to perform wonderful acts that mystify mere humans. They also have the power of flight, leaving them bound to no land. I aspire to be dragon-like. I aspire to be Dragon.
